A useful overview of the main theoretical schools in counseling psychology and their adaption to group therapeutic work. Not a lot of high or low points here. It does draw heavily from some new world existentialists like Yalom, though as is often the case gives short shrift to old world practitioners or off-shoots of this and other theoretical schools. I used this book as a required textbook for a class in pastoral education. I don't recommend this book unless the reader has adequate background in psychological theory, as these could be carelessly misused and thus inadvertently thwart group progress. Very useful for learning the context for role-playings effectiveness in one-on-one and group settings.… (mehr)
