There are mythical creatures, magic, a quest, and romance. I wonder if it is the author’s first book. It needs more editing. It is missing words in some sentences, while others have extra words that don’t belong. There were other issues, like improper use of words and mismatched tenses. There were contradictions and inconsistencies. I read it through Kindle Unlimited. I definitely wouldn’t pay for books by this author.

A Cinderella retelling, the story maintains the concept of the midnight magic, and incorporates the belle as the beast with the reversal of Penny enchanted to be beautiful in order to fulfil her quest. Penny is hidden from society because she is deemed ugly. So, she stays in the basement out of sight until she turns nine years old. She sees the castle and the grounds for the first time, then when she's older she sees her sisters twice a year. However, for someone who doesn't see the outside world, Penny adapts well to the outdoor life when prophesied to assist Everett. Nonetheless, the story is captivating. The book is darker than the original, including battle and fatalities.

A Beauty and the Beast retelling, the story maintains the concept of the castle and its restrictions. Fate wants to fight the monstrous beast. There is potential for the retelling, but the book focuses heavily on Fate's magic and the constant running away. There are also a lot of characters to keep track of throughout the book that don't feel like they add to the story.

A Little Mermaid retelling, the story maintains the concept of the mute and mermaid identity. Marina communicates with sign language - to the best of her abilities - until she rescues Dominic and gains an echoed voice when interacting magic with liquid, such as water. Marina assists Dominic with his mystery of disappearing ships while she believe Dominic - unknowingly - holds the truth behind her past. On top of this, Marina is dying and takes this opportunity to learn who she truly is before her time is up. The story starts slow, establishing the characters and setting, but gains a pace by the third-way mark. The writing style is also very young. The final quarter of the story consists of non-stop action to save both the sea and land world. The story is captivating. The book is darker than the original, including fatalities.
