This is the first book I have read by this author and in this series, it didn’t lose me nor confuse me it made me fall in love and dying to read the others. Dimitri and Sorina had a lot in common despite how much they loved to irritate each other. They both had rough childhoods and were both saved by Art. Their story is one that was intense, emotional, and beautiful. The relationship between them was supposed to be taboo, but to me it wasn’t because in no way were they even related, and they only lived around each other for a short time and their attraction something that was undeniable. They had a long road to get to where they were meant to be, but will secrets come between and ruin any chances they have for a happy ending, or can they fight through together? I clung to every part of this book just waiting to see what would happen and if two lost souls could help mend each other.… (mehr)

In the latest installation of the BOYS ON THE HILL series, the hero showed another side to himself as he falls for the heroine. Delving towards a part of his personality that hasn't been shown before in the previous books, the hero truly opened up in this book, giving readers a whole new side of him that makes him such an intriguing character. Not to say that the heroine is a wallflower; nope, the heroine is as interesting as the hero in this book. The culture and family structure are an integral part of the heroine, but there's also the individuality that she's growing into during this book. Along with the main couple are the various secondary characters that makes the story better with their personalities and interactions. As an expectation of the author, the focus of the romantic relationship between the hero and the heroine really makes the book an enjoyable read, especially when you include the sexy scenes that I was introduced to in my first Rose Croft book. Definitely a solid addition to the series.

It's hot.

It's super hot.

It's super, duper hotness alert.

And that's all because of the characters.

Like, any of them.

But primarily the main couple.

The hero and the heroine are in a relationship that should had remained platonic. But said relationship changed when they attended the same university. All pretense of platonic feelings is thrown as they interacted more with each other in a setting that is miles away from the place that had labeled their relationship since they first met. Forbidden desires arose and can never be put back, especially when there is no willpower behind it. Now the hero and the heroine are in a relationship that is forbidden, but it also brings happiness that they had not known after experiencing what life has thrown at them in their childhood.

This is my first Rose Croft book and the third book in the Boys on the Hill series. It's a standalone book within the series and characters from the previous books make appearances in this couple's story. Such secondary characters really enrich the story and makes this book better because of their presence. But the book is definitely focused on the hero and the heroine. I enjoyed the whole journey that the couple made in their relationship with each other and as individuals overcoming their own personal struggles. I enjoyed all the angst that the couple were going through in this book. And the sexy times in this book, I already made my point in the beginning of this review. I enjoyed reading this book and looking forward to reading more Rose Croft books in the future.

I had the opportunity to beta read this book. I will write a more detailed review to come but for now, be prepared because y'all aren't ready for how amazing this book is. It is her best book to date. I devoured it. There is something magical about the Mendoza family.

I have said it a million times but there truly is something special about this Mendoza family. Their journey, both together and individually, has been both beautiful and heartbreaking to read. As I fall in love with these characters I cannot help but put myself in their shoes and imagine life as they are experiencing it. This is an impressive feat. This is especially true in light of current events regarding minorities. The fact that this author can create characters that I can step into their shoes and see it as if I personally was experiencing it is a testament of her crazy skill as a writer. I feel their heritage, their will to obtain that American Dream, and their family devotion. Every one of these characters makes me want to cheer Viva Mexico and claim their heritage as my own.

As each character's story has been significantly different in what they have experienced. For Lily, she had been sheltered to not know how bad things really had been. Just glimpses here or there that she had never put together what their meaning was. However, in this book, those pieces all come together and watching her have to grasp that understanding in a way that didn't distort memories or even her mother or brothers, but also take some ownership in knowing that she can grow from it was powerful indeed. Her free loving spirit and easy-going nature was half of her appeal and her strength and resilience were powerful indeed. It is this combination that made her connection with Marco that much more important to the story. Marco had his own demons. He wore a mask so to speak in regards to who he was. His outward persona was completely different than the person inside the shell. Watching these two offer solace, for a lack of a better word, to each other and bring light into the dark was both beautiful and heartbreaking to watch. Lily only saw the potential and the beauty that was Marco and Marco saw the beauty but that it came with a time limit in regards to how long he could keep her.

Their journey definitely was filled with angst, but it also came with the hope that both of these individuals would discover their own self-worth and the realization that they deserved the love and comfort that the other offered each other. Therein lies the beauty of this author because it is also a reminder that not everything is black and white and sometimes we have to strive to become better, to do better, and to believe.

I highly recommend this amazing series. There truly is something magical about this amazing Mendoza family. I wish they were my family. Bravo to this author for not only this book but also this series.
