This new release, by this author under her new penname, is a clever romance with a lovely spotlight on the need for ‘forever homes’ for unwanted and abused animals: a spark for the story.

When Charlie, a free spirited single woman without interest in a relationship spots the Rottweiler with the sad eyes and only a few days left on a pet adoption commercial, she realizes that she can’t ignore him: even though dog ownership, training and care are completely out of her experience.
Newly single Ethan has a beautifully trained and cared for Golden Retriever and until the two dogs have a bit of a dust up, followed shortly by the owners: neither has romance on the mind.

From this point forward the story moves forward, with both characters and dogs learning to deal with their past, present and each other as the humans fight their attractions as their dogs improve theirs.

As the two learn to deal with all of the issues, their chemistry becomes undeniable, even to them. With some push-pull of desire over fear, and the opening up of communication and trust between Charlie and Ethan, they finally see what their dogs knew all along: they are meant for each other.

Well-developed characters, an easy to relate to set of experiences, steamy sex scenes and a smooth writing style: this is a great start to a new romance series that is more than just the happily ever after.

I received the ARC copy of the book from the author for purpose of honest review. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own responsibility.

Walk Away With Me is a sweet romantic novella about two people who have fears and insecurities when it comes to love and relationships. When their lovable dogs brings them together at the local dog park, their attraction and chemistry leads them to confront their fears for a real chance at love and happiness.

Free-spirit Charlie Rockwell is afraid of commitments. Ethan Porter has a hard time getting over a past broken relationship. When Charlie adopts an unruly Rottweiler named Rugby, she didn't know the first thing about taking care of a dog who needs obedience training. A chance meeting occurs when Rugby charges after Tuck, Ethan Porter's Golden Retriever at the dog park, which leads Charlie to ask Ethan for help with Rugby's obedience training. Can a chance meeting and two lovable dogs bring together a relationship challenged couple for a chance at love and happiness?

In her debut novella, author Darby Davenport, aka Emlyn Chand, weaves a lighthearted and whimsical romantic tale written in the third person narrative with alternating points of view by Charlie and Ethan. Charlie and Ethan takes the reader along for the ride as their chance meeting prompted by their dogs develops into a romantic relationship that neither had been looking for, which eventually leads them to let go of their pasts and realize that they are meant for each other. Frought with personal struggles and conflicts, twists and turns, steamy romance, and two lovable dogs, Walk Away With Me is an enjoyable quick read that reminds the reader that anyone can find love at the most unexpected time!

Walk Away With Me is the first book in The Loving Nature Trilogy.

Disclaimer: I received a copy of the book from the author in exchange for my honest review and participation in a virtual book launch event hosted by Novel Publicity.

Walk Away with Me by Darby Davenport
Love how each of the main characters get alternating chapters. Keeps the story moving and from different angles.
Charlie has just gotten herself a Rottweiler. It's either that or they have to put the dog down. She has no clue as to how to take care of him.
Ethan has his own well trained dog and after a mishap at the dog park he agrees to help her with her dog.
He's been alone a while, he had tossed his girlfriend of 3 years out when he came home early to find her in bed with another guy.
She reminds him so much of Ashlee that he doesn't want to make a move on her. She had kissed him the other day and wants more. He's keeping his distance..
We get to understand things better as the past is brought up and why they appeared to be perfect for one another...
He is getting too serious with her and she doesn't even want a relationship. He leaves for his brothers BBQ and she is able to talk to her mother on how things changed for her when she realized she was in love..
Very detailed, hot steamy sex scenes and even the food is described in vivid detail!
Things start to go wrong when his ex shows up. Particularly love the outside and hiking trail parts but I always stick to the trail myself...
Many sample chapters of her other books are included.
