Persuasion [DVD] von Fiona Shaw
The best Austen adaptation ever - excellent acting, honest and vivid production values, the perfect mix of wit and heartfelt.
Excellent! The BBC really know how to do Jane Austen.
This is one of her lesser-known novels, but the adaptation brought it to life very well, with some humour where appropriate, and two very believable main protagonists. Scenery and language felt believable, close to the text of the book.
Very enjoyable, highly recommended to anyone who likes character-based period drama, whether or not you have read the classic book.

One of the best film adptations ever made of a Jane Austen novel, with all elements in harmony and considerable faithfulness to the book while being cinematic instead of literary. Wonderful production design. Both leads are perhaps a little old for their roles but very good performances..
Lovely, understated version. Great performances by Amanda Root and Ciaran Hinds.
