I know nothing about the author of this book, and so would not unquestionably accept everything written in this hefty tome, but Mr. Denton does put together a fun read, composed of several dozen typically two to six page mini-biographies of some of history's most corrupt, inept and downright evil rulers.
The lack of available information on Denton, combined with the lack of citations, prevents me from considering this a true work of scholarship. Nevertheless, Denton's writing style is informative and engaging, and this book is a fine light read for those looking for some basic biographical information on European rulers.… (mehr)

Ruthless Rulers was a fun book to read. Full of information about tyrant Kings, Queens and Tsars. The information was well researched and written in a concise way. Some of the information was repeated when the book dealt with a royal family. But this was easy to overlook for me. I love history. Great book. Well researched and written. Recommended.
