This is quite a nice collection of short stories set in Brisbane, Australia, my home town throughout the twentieth century. It is always fun to read stories set in familiar locales, but it seemed to me that these stories spoke more of era than of place. For this reason, the book is probably better suited to residents of Brisbane interested in learning more about their town, than to readers elsewhere wanting to experience Brisbane's particular character. It seemed to me that there were no stories that made you say, "that could only happen in Brisbane", but maybe Brisbane's just not that kind of place...
