So, I was obsessed with this book when I was a kid. I would ask to have it read as a bedtime story, because apparently, even in early childhood, I was a gigantic nerd. It is literally just a book written by a doctor that lists a bunch of diseases with descriptions, it's horribly out of date, but it's written in a really kid-friendly way, with the correct technical terms but everything is broken down and clearly defined. I still recommend this book. If a child reads this with a knowledgeable adult who can update them, it's such a cool resource, and I've never seen anything that even compares. There are books out there that talk about how germs can cause infections, and there are stories dealing with one or two specific illnesses, but I've really never seen something as encyclopedic as this. I know it's probably just the nostalgia speaking, but I still love this book and it has a very special place in my life.… (mehr)
