April 1920. Emmie and Dessa are off to the McPherson's farm for the Airshow. Where they meet Hank and his friend, fellow pilot, Dewey Albright. Star of the show is actor Ellis Singleton who is the show's announcer. Unfortunately the air show is mired by a murder. But what is the motive. The Sheriff investigates with the help of Emmie, Dessa and Hank.
An enjoyable cozy historical mystery.

The Poison in All of Us (Emmie McAllister Mysteries Book 1) Kindle Edition
by Connie B. Dowell

I enjoyed The Poison in All of Us because it is a well-written mystery with strong female characters. Although set in the South in the early 1900s, its lead characters, Emmie and her “frenemy” Dessa, are intelligent, independent young ladies dealing with issues teenagers still face today. Although not kindred spirits, the girls find a way to work together to help solve a murder. There is quite a bit of factual information about the time period, including the suffragist movement in America, built into the storyline which lends itself to better understanding of what it felt like to live within the limitations placed upon young women at that time.

I look forward to reading about future escapades of Emmie and Dessa in the books to follow in this series.

I received a free copy of The Poison in All of Us from StoryCartel (www.storycartel.com) in exchange for posting my unbiased review of the book online.
