This novella is the perfect introduction to the Killer on Call series.

Hook: The opening sequence reveals three unknown characters in various states of incapacitation. We are left with a yearning to figure out the who and why of the situation.

Line: A flashback to earlier in the evening introduces us to a trio of life-long friends. The unique personalities of Timothy and Kiersten allude to some upcoming, extremely interesting interactions. Julia, the sister of Timothy and BFF of Kiersten, is just as feisty.

Sinker: We flow back into the precarious situation of the three individuals. What follows sets the stage for the KC series.

I loved getting to know sexy secretive Tim. He may seem complicated, but he is such a guy!! Kiersten is the type of girl many of us secretly wish we could be. She’s talented, fearless, and a force to be reckoned with.

I love this Killer on Call series!

The KC has been hired to take care of another bad guy. This time, however, the employer is a group of teenagers from the local high school. Why would teenagers want a hired gun? How could they come up with the steep fee? It’s sounding like the Killer’s Conscience may have been placed on stand-by.

This story had many unexpected twists. It’s a good thing Avi knows the identity of the KC. So many things could have gone wrong. I was happy when Tim’s choice of method revealed the truth before succumbing to the inevitable.

As with the first book, the story begins somewhere in the middle and then flashes to the beginning of events. This time, I had a bit of trouble keeping track of all the different “who” “where” and “when”. It may have just been me, but the read wasn’t as smooth as the previous one. Still, I did enjoy the storyline and was able to follow along without too much trouble. I am looking forward to book 3, Morphine. Hmmm…???… (mehr)
