This is a most illumnination book, very deep in sympathetic understanding, utterly clear about the difficulty each one of us faces, and most loving in its encouragement nonetheless.
In this its second edition it resumes its place as a worthy sequel to White Eagle's commentary on the fourth gospel, The Living Word of St John.

Man, while on earth, lives in bondage to his body, to the limitations of materiality and to his own lower self. But his bondage is not perpetual, for during the course of many lives he undergoes a series of initiations which finally free him from his thraldom. The teacher, White Eagle (through Grace Cooke), speaks of four major initiations, which in their turn correspond to different aspects of man's own being.
In this book, the spirit teacher White Eagle - already known to many through his sayings in "The Quiet Mind" - seeks to remind us that we set out long ago upon an absolutely safe path of experience, unfolding spiritual gifts through the lessons of everyday life. The reality of the whole of life is light, love; and it is only our dimmed awareness that conceives of the world and ourselves as heavy and physical.
