Wren Emerson

The concept of the book was interesting, especially how things run in the town of Desire however I had some issues with the story. It really bothered me that Thistle never questioned why all these people she's never met hate her with a passion, I know i'd be asking WTH was going on. I wish the author would have spent some more time on Thistle's talent & when things finally started to pick up *bam* story ends abruptly like Wren got tired of writing. Besides these issues it was a so-so and quick read & I think the storyline has potential, hopefully the next book will be better.… (mehr)

The writing style was quality and really enjoyable. I enjoyed learning about Thistle's life as she did, although some of the twists were easy to work out well before Thistle found out. At times I felt that Thistle should have been smarter, more pro-active or simply able to better rely on all the fancy training she's had, but I couldn't really blame her character overall. She's young, confused and has growing to do to reach her potential and that all read quite realistically- particularly with the completely misleading upbringing she's had and lies all around her. She's going to make mistakes, I just hope she's going to learn from them in the next book.Speaking of the next book, I'll be in line waiting to read it, but it did feel a bit like "I Wish" was just the first half of a book, and I'm hoping the sequel will finish everything off and not end the same way. Like some other reviews here, I was just feeling like an ending was coming up (in a chapter or two) and I turned a page and... that was it. Not even a cliff hanger as such, it just ended. Overall though, it was a good book, but would have been excellent, possibly even 5 star, if it felt like a good COMPLETE book.… (mehr)
