- Charles Feil makes his home in South Portland, Maine, but is frequently seen buzzing around Florida during the winter months. He has logged hundreds of hours photographing landscapes all around the United States and has published several books of his overhead photography. In the year 2000, he made aviation history by being the first pilot in a gyroplane to touch down in all 48 contiguous states unaided by ground support.
Feil’s professional photography career began in 1966, and he counts among his many credits work on the Jane Goodall World of Wildlife television series. In 1992, an entirely new aspect of the art opened up when he took his first flying lesson. The gyroplane Feil built in 1997, Rooty Kazooty, allows him to photograph from even more perspectives.
