Write about what you know, they say, a maxim that has always held true for Melinda Ferguson because nowhere is she as compulsively readable as when she pens episodes of the dramatic soap opera of her life.

The most recent series in designer labelled tragi-comedy begins when she trashes a Ferrari in a near-fatal accident and comes to realise her glamorous high-profile life, her job and her relationship, is unravelling, and she is losing control.

So starts a journey of break-ups, make-ups, clinics and therapy in a headlong rush to find true love and approval: Melinda exposes more than she realises and at times it seems almost indecent to look at her despair. Typically Ferguson, the prose is gritty, but if you can get past the cocks, cunts and cum, Crashed is a perfect portrait of an addict, 15 years clean and sober, but still battling her demons.… (mehr)
