Mara Fitzgerald

I enjoyed this book. I loved how brutal it was and how interesting and unlikable the protagonist is. The world building was cool and intriguing. I did think the book could have benefitted from being longer, as some parts felt rushed. Overall, I would recommend to fans of dark fantasy, or morally grey, unlikable protagonists.

Want some gore? 'Course ya do. This has it in abundance, as well as the most narcissistic sociopathic character I've encountered in ages. Reading her internal self-justifications that span most of the story are industrially cringeworthy. A fine read for lovers of dark fantasy who have a strong stomach.
