Fade into the Night by Becky Flade
Philly Heat Series #5

Loved this book ~ Perfect addition to the series ~ Couldn’t put it down!

What I liked:
* Sadie Potter: forensic facial reconstructionist, professor, artist, free spirit, sister, unconventional childhood, bright, open, empathetic, good friend, protective, has a lot to deal with in this story
* Noah Danes: FBI supervisory special agent, profiler, interfaced with satellite FBI unit in Philadelphia, had a rough childhood, protective, intelligent, reserved, really liked him
* The way Sadie was able to put herself forward, state what she wanted, and communicate with others – including Noah
* The care Noah took with Sadie and how he was there for her no matter what
* The way Sadie chose to work through what happened to her and the strength she found to move forward
* The police procedural aspects of the story
* Getting to see more than one character from previous books in the series
* The setting, plot, pacing, character development, and writing
* Being able to relate to and care about the characters
* Feeling that Noah and Sadie were perfect for and with one another
* That all the threads of the story were tied up neatly at the end of the book

What I didn’t like:
* Who and what I was meant not to like
* Thinking about nature, nurture, and the cause of evil
* Thinking about the pain suffered by more than one person in this book

Did I enjoy this book? Yes
Would I read more in this series/by this author? Definitely

Thank you to the author for the ARC – This is my honest review.

Beautiful Dangerous by Becky Flade
Philly Heat #4

Intense, immersive, intricately woven dark tale ~ I could not put it down!

What I liked:
* Hannah Patel: lawyer, public defender, believes in the judicial system, brother murdered, close family ties, dealing with a stalker, life in danger, feisty, intelligent, someone I would want as a friend
* Detective Doyle Murphy: well educated, worked for Quantico before Special Victims Unit, on sabbatical after snapping, a bit burned out, takes on Hannah’s stalking situation for a friend
* Hannah’s family: her close tie to deceased Isaac, her younger twin brother and sister, and her parents who are forces to be reckoned with as well as loving, kind, and supportive
* Doyle’s family: his grandmother the matriarch, his parents that are loving, kind and caring, and his sister though only heard about
* Oscar: formidable rescue dog that has an interesting bark, loves tummy rubs, and is protective as a tiny dog can be
* Seeing Alexandra Danvers again from book two of the series and Trudy Beasley from book three
* Noah Danes, Mike Royce, and Evan – two people I wouldn’t mind hearing more about in the future
* Thinking about Dan and his wife and wondering what will happen to them
* The plot complexity, pacing, setting, character development, and writing
* That I was drawn in, felt part of the story, cared about the characters, and was invested in the outcome

What I didn’t like:
* Who and what I was meant not to like
* Thinking about what creates evil and then the evil acts that were mentioned in this story and though sad or horrible, in keeping with the story and all too believable

Did I enjoy this book? Yes
Would I read more in this series? Definitely

Thank you to the author for the ARC – This is my honest review.

I love this series. Trudy and Ben came together when a set of skeletal remains were found after a large explosion. This story has a way of pulling you in and you are totally engaged in the story. There is romance, drama, suspense and mystery. The story runs flawlessly through the book. There are some twists. These bring things back together smooth. The characters were well-developed and easy to relate to. I’ts been a real treat to read this series. This author writes in a way that makes you feel like you are there in the middle of the story with them.… (mehr)

Yesterday’s Over by Becky Flade
Philly Heat Series #3

Bones…old ones and new ones…seekers of truth…a forensic anthropologist and a pathologist… searching for answers within those bones…loved the couple and how though so different in some ways so perfect together.

What I liked:
* Trudy: pathologist, assistant chief medical examiner, established in her profession, intelligent, empathetic, likes life and spaces neat and tidy, seeker of truth, believes old bones in blast site indicate murders
* Ben: forensic anthropologist, scientist, enjoys learning from old bones and sees what they have to tell differently than Trudy does, enjoys being surrounded by mementos, protective, has a cat, a nice balance to Trudy in more ways than one
* Watching the relationship as it developed between Trudy and Ben
* Feeling that Trudy and Ben were well matched
* The mystery surrounding the bones
* Finding out who the bones belonged to and why they were buried in the blast site
* The supporting characters – would love to hear more about Noah, Sadie, and some of the others
* The families of Ben and Trudy – both had wonderful families
* The dynamics between the main characters and their maturity and ability to communicate honestly
* The plot, pacing, writing and how it all came together in the end
* All of it really except…

What I didn’t like:
* Who and what I was meant not to like
* The loss of innocent lives and the pain suffered by more than one

Did I enjoy this book? Yes
Would I read more in this series? Definitely

Thank you to the author for the ARC – This is my honest review.
