Our Valkyrie is sent to acquire a powerful soul needed to fend off Ragnarok that threatens to destroy their homeworld and eventually the universe.
The first thing that happens is that her Valkyrie sister spends their entire budget on an expensive car. I get that this was supposed to be funny, but I find things like that just frustrating. Why bother using the time to save the world if you can work minimum wage to survive instead. Priorities.
Very little care was taken with any kind of consistency. This is probably going to just be a shallow and fun teen school drama but it completely missed the tone by starting out with saving the universe from Ragnarok.
On top, we have all kinds of extremely high-tech capabilities that make the entire plot setup redundant as said technology could clearly solve most of their problems with ease. But the author didn't even try to come up with an excuse why this isn't possible and it very much seemed like the author has already forgotten about all of it 5 minutes into the book.
So this much of a scathing review just for the first 10 minutes or so of the audiobook. 'nuff said.
I might be more forgiving if things like that happened further into the book and with more context but this book puts its worst foot forward in the very beginning and I am not willing to bet on it getting better.… (mehr)
