Kurzbiographie: Béatrice Fontanel est iconographe et auteur de nombreux livres illustrés consacrés à la vie quotidienne, de plusieurs ouvrages de fiction et de recueils de poèmes.
Après des études de lettres, et une maîtrise sur l'écrivain argentin Julio Cortázar, elle devient journaliste à Bayard Presse.
Elle est l'auteur d'une centaine d'ouvrages destinés aux adultes et aux enfants, parmi lesquels: Mozart (2006), L'histoire de France dessinée, Mon copain Bogueugueu (Gallimard Jeunesse, 2006), La Parade des musiciens, Mathilde et les petits papiers (Actes Sud Junior, 2003), Ma première histoire de l'Art (Palette, 2009), Grand Corbeau (Sarbacane, 2007).
Elle a également publié deux recueils de poésie, La Ménagère cannibale (Seuil, 2003) et Éloge des nuages (La Martinière, 2005).
En 2009, elle obtient le prix du Premier roman du Doubs et le prix Jean d'Heurs du roman historique puis, en 2010, le prix Claude-Farrère de l'écrivain combattant, pour "L'Homme barbelé".
Elle vit aujourd'hui à Montparnasse.

Fontanel describes the life of a penguin over the course of a year, from finding a mate to hatching chicks. She also addresses different kinds of penguins and how scientists have studied them at the end of the book.

Grand corbeau von Béatrice Fontanel

Grand corbeau broie du noir. Et pour cause, son plumage couleur de jais lui donne bien des soucis. Oiseau de malheur… Voilà ce qu'il est ! Du moins, est-ce ce qu'il pense. Pas une once de couleur ne vient éclairer son ramage. Noir charbon il est, noir charbon il restera. Quelle tristesse ! Désabusé, il vagabonde de champ en champ enviant secrètement les pies avec leurs tenues de soirée et les oiseaux des îles aux couleurs si chatoyantes.
Il rêve de couleurs, mais voit tout en noir, n'imaginant pas un instant que ce noir qui l'habille le rend majestueux et élégant.

Tristan et Iseult von Béatrice Fontanel

The classic and tragic tale of Tristan and Isolde, about a young man who slays a dragon and a giant and falls in love with Isolde, a beautiful young woman who happens to be the giant's niece, that he is meant to bring to his king as a bride, here told in a more simplified manner and accompanied with gorgeous illustrations by Fronty. According to wikipedia: the legend of Tristan and Iseult "is an influential romance and tragedy, retold in numerous sources with as many variations. The tragic story is of the adulterous love between the Cornish knight Tristan (Tristram) and the Irish princess Iseult (Isolde, Yseult, etc.). The narrative predates and most likely influenced the Arthurian romance of Lancelot and Guinevere, and has had a substantial impact on Western art, the idea of romantic love and literature since it first appeared in the 12th century. While the details of the story differ from one author to another, the overall plot structure remains much the same".
