Although obviously dated (1989), this was a better than expected book on computer visualization in its various forms with, in particular, a very nice
discussion of visual perception.

I'd have like a more critical volume, one that pointed out the stupidities, or at least the limitations, of some of the visualization methodologies in use, but that's probably too much to expect of a book at so early a stage of development of a field; I'm not sure I could find such a volume even today.
