Erin Fulmer

I accidentally read Book 3 first. Oops! But if you do the same, no worries. You can still go back and enjoy the previous books. (Well I haven't yet read book 2, but I suspect it won't be a problem.) I have to admit that some of the twists in this book were a wee bit spoiled by having read the 3rd installment so recently, but it was quite fun to see how some of the relationships changed over time. In this installment, our protagonist -- a half-succubus/half-human -- is working as an Assistant District Attorney when she stumbles (literally) into a case involving other succubi. Great pacing, lovely well-rounded characters, and good dialogue that doesn't go overboard into "too perfect/witty to be real" territory. Characters make questionable decisions, second-guess themselves, and find ways to make the best of their situations, whether the situation is of their own making or not. Happily recommended.… (mehr)

I'm completely new to this series, but I don't feel that hurt my enjoyment at all. Ms. Fulmer has expertly woven enough detail from earlier books, that I never felt the lack of information (although I do really want to go back and read the others now, as well as any forthcoming). Our protagonist is Lily Knight, attorney and half-succubus, who is dealing with the fallout from publicly announcing what she is while representing a woman possessed by the Morrigan; raising her ward, a teenage half-succubus; and navigating personal relationships. As if all of that isn't enough, she gets a surprise visit from a previously unknown family member (not spoiling that one) and an enemy from her past shows up to create even more chaos.

Lily has come out about what she is and now she is getting some very unique people coming to her for help. She helps out selkies and other supernatural beings. Her biggest case is Rae who was possessed by the goddess Morrigan. But now she has more trouble coming her way, it appears that other demons are after her too. She does get to finally meet her father. She still has her job with the government and there is a big Surprise coming from that end. This was a very enjoyable read with lots happening and so many twist and turns. Something new comes out in the end but whether it’s good or bad we don’t know. Cannot wait for the next book. A story of good against evil. There were a number of twists that involved love, family, and an relationshi. Truth and good triumphed after the succubent min character realized that love has many forms and what we want and need doesn’t have one definition. It held my attention and kept drawing me back to read more. I would like enjoy reading additional books if the author chooses to continue this story. I choose 4 stars because I was confused at times when a new twist was added and the connection wasn’t clear even at the end of the story. Perhaps this will be clearer in future tales.… (mehr)
