Stanley Gazemba, author of The Stone Hills of Maragoli (published in the U.S. as Forbidden Fruit), Khama, Calloused Hands, and Gbettboy, was the recipient of the Jomo Kenyatta prize for Kenyan Literature in 2003. His works have been shortlisted for the Wilbur and Niso Smith Adventure Writing Prize mehr anzeigen as well as the Kwani? Manuscript Prize. Stanley Gazemba's articles and short stories have appeared in publications such as the New York Times, World Literatim Today, Nairobi Noir, Man of the House and Other New Short Stories from Kenya, and the East African magazine. The author gives a detail description of the area where the Zulu tribe resided in order to set the setting of this story. I like the way the author presented this great warrior as a hurt and mistreated little boy, to a fit and skillful youth, to a great leader and warrior.
This story can be used in History to discuss the history of the Zulu tribe, and the English interactions with the Native American tribes. It can also be used in a Geography class to discuss the area where these tribes were located.… (mehr)
