June and Tyrell serve as alternating narrators as they meet and grow a friendship at Huey House, a transitional housing facility in Brooklyn. When the kids find out about some new policies that are going to push residents out after 90 days, they tray to take action. There is a strong community at Huey House and both kids struggle with their relationships with their mom. They bond over their love of music. As I listened to the book, I could picture the place and the characters. It was touching.

I stopped after fifty pages. Formula, like a list of characters that check all the boxes, but there's no heart in any of it. In comparison I liked the Penderwick books, and felt like a friend as I read them. No stars.

The Vanderbeekers have always lived in the brownstone on 141st Street. It's practically another member of the family. So when their reclusive, curmudgeonly landlord decides not to renew their lease, the five siblings have eleven days to do whatever it takes to stay in their beloved home and convince the dreaded Beiderman just how wonderful they are.

And all is fair in love and war when it comes to keeping their home.

A sweet and satisfying end to the series. If you haven't met the Vanderbeekers, I highly recommend that you start at the beginning, The Vanderbeekers of 141st Street, and meet this warm and loving family and experience all of their adventures together.
