Reading this is like taking short peeps into the lives of the Mexican family. Not necessarily the most dramatic parts of their lives, but the little bits that happen along the way to make us who we are. I felt as though I were living with them at their pace and in their home. It is a wonderful time capsule as well, of a disappearing lifestyle.
I bought this little volume of poetry from the library sale for 50 cents, because it is illustrated and signed by Ted DeGrazia. I find the poetry extremely sad. The author is looking to Saint Francis for his faith instead of to the Author and Finisher of our faith, Jesus Christ. He hopes to get in to heaven because he has been a follower and admirer of St. Francis, when he should have paid attention to the One whom St. Francis followed. The artwork is lovely of course, and for that reason, and the fact that the book is worth $60-$70, I will keep it for now. Rated 2 stars for content, 5 stars for illustrations.… (mehr)
