A Memory for Wonders. Mother Veronica Namoyo Le Gourlard. A member of the Zoom meeting of Communion and Liberation mentioned this book and it sounded like something I’d like since I am always interested in conversion stories. This one is not as good as I’d hoped. Lucette was baptized in Brest, France, much to her parents dismay. They were anti-religion especially anti-catholic. They moved to Morocco when she was a child and continued their work in various socialist activities. At the age of 4 she has a religious experience and is convinced that God is responsible for the beauty in the world. She is always attracted to the Eucharist, but has to hide her beliefs from her parents. Eventually she goes to confession and is confirmed and eventually joins an order and founds two monasteries in Africa. This takes place just before and during WWII. I have never read a book about the French African colonies during this period and found this part of her life fascinating.… (mehr)
