Emily Bennett is an ex-investigative journalist who is now a bestselling murder-mystery author, and is tired of traveling and just wants to set down roots. She's finally found a place she can call home, a house in Anchorville, Oregon, that became available when the previous owners both died unexpectedly, and their son was killed in Afghanistan. But early one morning her motion sensor is set off and she finds herself face-to-face with an intruder. Luckily she has her gun -- but she won't need it. The intruder is Alexander Lewis, the supposedly dead son.

It appears he's not dead -- and has amnesia. He wants to know what really happened to his parents. Even though Emily has given up her former life, her curiosity gets the better of her -- and she finds herself searching for answers...answers that could get her killed, as if she wasn't already on the radar for death...

This is the first book in the series, and even though it was previously published under another name, I had never read it before. I found myself soon engrossed in the story, and I also wanted to know what had happened to Alexander's parents. But even more, I found the back stories of both Emily and Alexander to be extremely interesting, and this is what really kept me reading the book.

Emily is a transplanted Brit, and although she's happy now, I do have to wonder what type of parents she grew up with that would make her the person she is. Sad, really. As is the case of Alexander, a man without a past who is slowly learning it by the actions of his friends and ex-girlfriend (who is about as annoying as they come -- kudos to Emily for handling the woman).

Then there are Carl and Sam, two of Alexander's teammates and close friends who aren't sure of Emily's motives toward Alexander, but it is the story of Alexander and Emily that focuses much of the action upon. They are the catalysts for a genuinely intriguing story of murder and secrets.

It's a delightful foray into this series, and the ending itself brings us satisfaction, knowing that justice has been done (as we knew it would). I am glad that I found this book and look forward to the next in the series. Highly recommended.

I was given a copy of this book from the author but this in no way influenced my review.

"It Starts With A No" by Trisha Grace

My Opinion:

"It Starts With A No" was a captivating story with lots of twists and turns, and then, in the end, we are given a cliffhanger. So, I just wanted you to know what to expect in the end. The story had some alluring characters...Clary and Seth, along with some secondary characters that will keep your attention as they interact back and forth, will entertain the audience. The story will give the reader quite a read in how Clary was very well, while the brothers weren't so lucky, having had a lot of trauma in their life due to a certain... I didn't quite understand the thought process of this benefactor. I am sure there will be more about him in future reads. Will the benefactor honor and do as he had promised to Seth? The reader will have to pick up "It Starts With A No" to get more of the story to get this and more. We find as the story continues, there will be threats, suspense, Christian expectations, and some romance involved in the story that will keep one turning the pages to see what is coming next. As we get to the end...well, to get the next part, we will have to get book 2 to see how things will turn out for Clary and Seth, and I guess the rest of his brothers.… (mehr)

This is listed as a clean romance but I immediately in the first chapter disliked the so called Hero.

“I walked in on him having sex with his secretary.” Hayley knocked into the back of a stunned Leanne. “He was still fully clothed, but they were on their way there.”

His pants are undone, his shirt open.

He doesn't actually have sex but he intended to.
He resents his marriage to her so he is cruel and selfish.
The heroine at first appears a doormat but she soon develops a backbone.
The Hero did grow on me, a bit, they do have honest conversations about his attitude.
He grovels.
Belief in God features strongly.
Ex drama.
No details of any intimate scenes.
HEA.

There are books that stick with you long after you have read them, and that you keep recommending to people when they happen to ask you for a good, enjoyable read. “Moving On” by Trisha Grace is one of them. The first book in the “Ghost of the Past” series has everything it needs to satisfy even the pickiest readers: suspense, a lot of emotion, a sweet, yet very realistic romance story, and complex, well-developed characters readers can easily relate to. In short, it has all the ingredients of a bestseller.

The novel begins with the sad death of William Hayes, and with the young Kate Mitchell who is asking him if he wants her to send after Tyler, his grandson. The old man refuses even though he still feels guilty for having abandoned the boy. Before he dies, Kate tells him that one day Tyler will understand why his grandfather did what he did and how he tried to protect him. As you can see, the author introduced a mystery on the very first page, making it impossible for the readers to put the book down. Now, one must simply know what happens next.

After his grandfather passes away, Tyler can finally come back home, and this is exactly what he does. He will never forgive the old man for sending him away when he needed his family most… or what was left of it. Tyler’s parents died in an accident when he was just a little boy, and everything that happened afterwards changed his life forever. He never got the chance to have a normal childhood, but now he is back at the mansion that should belong to him. Except… when he arrives home, Tyler realizes that his grandfather had left the mansion to a woman he had never met – Kate Mitchell. Once again, Tyler feels betrayed.

“Moving On” is the story of two different people who must learn how to live with each other. Kate owns the mansion, but Tyler is not willing to accept that and just move on with his life. There are secrets from his past that are waiting to be revealed, and he feels he’s ready to finally learn the truth, whatever it may be. However, Kate and Tyler will soon understand that William Hayes’s will can entirely change their future.

Readers who love romantic stories will enjoy Trisha Grace’s novel a lot and will want to read the next ones in the series as soon as possible. One of the greatest things about “Moving On” is that it can really make readers relate to the story and characters. It is inspirational and full of passion, and it takes the readers by surprise with some plot twists that they would have never expected.

It is also free on September 3 and September 4, 2014, so don’t forget to get your copy from Amazon.
