I'm Fabulous Crab is a sparkling story about joyfully wearing your true colors-and perhaps a touch of glitter!

Henry the crab is tired of the same boring colors for himself and his kind and wants to be outstanding. When he finds piles of shiny treasure in a shipwreck he piles it on. An octopus reaches out but is scared away by a camera toting shark! Excellent colors and story! And it rhymes!
The illustrations by the author are fun, extravagant, brilliant, and delightful.
Well suited for reading WITH someone of any age including ESL, and great for gifting to anyone, but especially to a school or your local public library!
I requested and received a free temporary e-book on Adobe Digital Editions from Flyaway Books via NetGalley. Thank you!

Not quite as good as the "Murder most Unladylike" series but of a very similar ilk, although the main character Pepper is only 12 years old. Set a few years after the sinking of the Titanic, Pepper's father is the Captain of a cruise liner that sails between Sydney and New York, and so she sees him very rarely. Her mother has died and she is left in the care of a governess but what Pepper really wants to do is to sail on the cruise boat with her father and see what his life is like. So much so, that the opening of the book has her attempting to ditch school, catch a train and get on his boat but she is caught. Eventually he father relents and Pepper and the governess set sail. Whilst on board, they are treated to the showboating of many famous passengers including one movie start who flaunts a gigantic diamond she has just been given as an engagement present. Of course, the diamond goes missing and the Captain's reputation is on the line. Pepper and the three other young adults she has met on the cruise band together to try and work out who has stolen the gem before they reach the final port. Loads of fun and alludes to Agatha christie type popular novels and plots and lots of other roaring twenties fun. It will be interesting to see if Greenberg writes another.½

The conductor of the eponymous choir here is absolutely clear: this is a Meerkat Choir! - and no one else is welcome. Each new animal that tries to join the group is rejected, as the choir themselves look on with mixed feelings. But when they finally begin to sing, the conductor becomes equally angry with them, because of their poor performance. Will the meerkats put up with this, or will they find another way to sing...?

Originally published in Sydney last year (2017), Meerkat Choir is one of those picture-books where the majority of the narrative consists of dialogue, making it an excellent read-aloud selection. The artwork is colorful and cute, accentuating the humor of the story. My favorite scene, visually speaking, was the one in which the meerkats are welcomed by the other animals into a pan-species singing group. Recommended to anyone looking for children's stories about the importance of being inclusive and featuring choirs and/or singing.

bear starts off playing his drum, then EVERYONE else has to play or sing.

Gorgeous artwork illustrating the whole of Shakespeare's classic tragedy. The symbolism within the illustration adds great impact to the text, pulling no punches to soften the sexual inferences or the brutal distress of characters within the play.

I hadn't read F. Scott Fitzgerald's "The Great Gatsby" when I first read this novel when I was twelve, but if it's anything as good as this I must get my hands on it immediately!

The novel is set in the nineteen-twenties Long Island North Shore and in New York City. Jay gatsby has moved in next door to the narrator, Nick Carroway. Nick begins to learn about Gatsby's murky past and his lost love, Daisy . . .

We are introduced to the same world of glamour and parties in the novel. The illustrations in black and white photograph album style perfectly convey the atmosphere. I especially loved the scenes drving past the optometrist's sign, with the giant eyes always watching. Very creepy alongside the drunken revelry of Gatsby's parties.

As for the various characters as different made-up or animal-like creatures, the idea is genius. I found they conveyed each character perfectly, especially Daisy as the delicate, flower-like creature - yet her clothing and statements revealed her superficiality.

This was a wonderfully enjoyable novel. However sad it was, the atmosphere was utterly captivating and the story rolled along slowly, but compellingly. I'm determined to read the original!
