A missing person case, anonymous letters, and a divorce case that will give you chills…these are the fun things that Mike and Maddie get to look into in this installment of the Madeline Dawkins series. I found the story quite exciting and action packed. It’s fairly fast-paced and full of drama. The characters are all pretty relatable. I will be waiting to see what happens with a certain beloved senior citizen. For having three storylines basically going at the same time, I enjoyed how well they were all tied in together. It felt smooth and flawless. This is my third foray into this series. I will have to go back and start from book 1.… (mehr)

Lies, deception, fraud, treachery...Oh, what a web has been created around two cases that Madeline and Mike are working. One lies around kidnapping and one lies around missing persons. The suspense is set up in such a way that it goes back and forth between cases: yet, intertwined so well that it just meshes like it's a river. The white boards used to plot out cases. They end up working out cases but they also have law enforcement at their six. The characters are such that you just end up trying to figure out why they did what they did. All the characters end up just meshing together. Their personalities are like a piece of the puzzle and they each have a spot to fill. Running a catering company and a private investigation firm together seemed difficult but Madeline and Mike made it work with the help of Lauren and Samir. This was a fantastic mystery. Could you imagine waking up in a hotel room (not knowing where you are), naked but don't know how you got there nor remember much from the night before?

Here was a woman who had life by the tail. She and her husband had lots of money and were well respected in Santa Barbara. Her life was perfect...until it wasn't. When her husband threw photos at her of her having sex with another man and demanding a divorce, her life went down the drain.

What an incredible story. I've never read anything like it. Following Madeline along while she at first tries to make her husband believe she was innocent and later when she investigates who set her up and why kept me fully absorbed in the story. At first I though I wouldn't be interested in this story because of the setting in such wealth but I loved Madeline. She's smart, competent and determined to find the truth.

I enjoyed this book and I can't wait to read more of her adventures.… (mehr)
