This is an excellent book. It has been a long-time coming that someone did a thorough academic investigation on the links between the Workers Party and the Official IRA and the role of the major protagonists in both organisations. Hanley & Millar analyse how the 1970 split came about and a recurrent theme is the antagonism between former colleagues such as Provisional IRA/Sinn Féin and the INLA/IRSP and the various feuds are described. For me the most interesting part of the book was the identification of the individuals who were WP members and supporters, although not publicly declared supporters for the most part, in the media both RTE and in print journalism and in the trade unions throughout the 1970s and the 1990s until the formation of Democratic Left.… (mehr)
