This book is about how different types of things (matter) and how they melt (turn from a solid into a liquid.) I like this book because it is a great information source that could be used with some existing science sources to teach kids about matter. This book ties in really well with the mystery science second-grade curriculum and could be used as additional support for kids if they aren’t quite understanding this concept of matter and how it changes forms. This book takes the everyday things of the child's world and explores them, harnessing curiosity and wonder in a purposeful way. Which explores ideas and concepts. The pictures are of interest in themselves and also because they include elements which will promote enquiry. I think this book promote curiosity and interest in our environment. This book is to extend and develop that interest.

The secret world of insects revealed. Every fall, insects disappear. And every spring, they return. Where do they go? The dragonfly dies, leaving its young safe in the muddy bottom of a stream. The monarch butterfly sails the air to dry mountains in Mexico.

Where Did the Water Go is a book that describes in basic terms the various forms of water and why they occur. This book would be a good tool to use with young elementary students to describe the basics of solids, liquids, and gases as well as what molecules are. This book could also be a good tool to use when discussing the water cycle.
