This book was recommended to me to read because a friend wanted insight on how it made her feel. It is extreme and made me uncomfortable many times. However, it also offered a new perspective on many different ways that the mind processes things. This book is extremely well written and the conversations between the characters was some of the best I've read. Very informative of the human psyche.

I keep vacillating between four and five stars because I never did find out why this happened or even who ordered it and that bothers me. Yet, it posits if, perhaps that was the author's intent in not caring about the why and instead focusing on what comes out of the conversations. I'll muse on that.… (mehr)

Not sure what I made of this tbh. It's not a read for the feint hearted, its very graphic and in places I felt like I wanted to close down the book and not pick it up again but you do because you just want to know how it ends.

It's written in the first person, so either she's narrating or he is, you never find out their names or the reason he's trying to break her!

If you don't like intense books I'd avoid this but if you don't be prepared to hold your breath several times, want to scream at the screen and to remember this book long after you've read the last line!… (mehr)

How messed up am I after reading this book?? So many emotions, I still don't know what to think really. This book is not for everyone, the rape, violence and abuse scenes make the whole book, there is no time to breathe in between, it punches you right in the stomach. But it's one of my favourites this year because it really pushed my reading boundaries and I do enjoy a challenge. I enjoyed the end (maybe enjoy is not the right word) but I still have many unanswered questions. I guess that's the whole point though.
