A dream of a book, full of lost bits of time strung together by moments of sanity, told in a drugged haze. Oh, wait, that describes Ophelia as well as the book. So be it. Good reading.

First person coming of age with drugs, a little too much stream-of-consciousness and not enough limericks. There are never enough limericks. ARC received from Early Reviewers.

Vivid imagery and steadily building suspense make Luke T. Harrington’s Ophelia, ALIVE a good choice for fans of psychological thrillers. That is not my usually preferred genre so the fact that it kept me from putting it aside should also be a recommendation.

Had I picked up a print copy of the book while browsing, I probably would not have chosen to read it. None of this will prevent me from recommending it however.… (mehr)

I was a little disappointed with “Ophelia, Alive” and was not what I was expecting. What seemed as a good story of how Ophelia was part of an experiment, turned out to be a difficult read for me. I thought the writing was good, however the overall flow of the story was discombobulated in thought. It felt to me as though ideas were put on paper and yet never organized or resolved. Maybe that was the intent of the author to demonstrate the effects of drugs and how a young adult interprets life, but there were some parts left unfinished. This was an interesting plot and I think I would have enjoyed the book more if I took the time to read slowly. My suggestion: read slowly.… (mehr)
