Very interesting, and still relevant a decade after publication. This offers a quick and informative primer on immigration: why people move, where they move to/from and who chooses to move. It does a great job of countering some prejudices I wouldn't have even admitted to having, which was for me one of its strengths. I would definitely recommend this book.… (mehr)

An early examination of the NICs (newly industrialising countries). Harris suggests that the category 'Third World' was ceasing to be u seful.

This book was sent to me by the publisher after a heated debated on immigration at a dinner party some years ago. The author makes a compelling arguement for freedom of restriction and common sense. Much of the scaremongering about immigration in our tabloid papers is racism and intolerance masquerading as concern. We have to challenge the rhetoric, stop using emotive phrases such as 'swamped' and 'flooded' and look at the evidence. Harris has set it all out.
