This was a book I received from LibraryThing.com’s Early Reviewers. I guess I should have read the description better before I said I would read it, I read the part about the fantasy quest to avenge Ashei’s Mothers death. I missed the disclaimer that this was a high fantasy series for fans of adventure, dry wit, and broad sexuality.

In fact the “broad sexuality” threw me for a loop at first, it was just so in my face. That it really distracted me from the story line. I mean I don’t mind reading about sex, and I made it through Anne Rice’s Sleeping Beauty Series, and this has nothing on that series, but because I missed the disclaimer I was a bit unprepared for it and like I said distracted trying to figure out what I had gotten myself into checking the box for this book. After awhile all the gay jokes became offensive, just because there were SOOO many of them. I think sex and sexualtity can add a lot to a story, this book just wasn’t written well enough to do that, so instead the sex and sexuality was a boring and upset me because I really wanted to get to the heart of the storyline and I couldn’t get through the fluff.

Laying all of that aside, this book is obviously a first attempt at a novel. This is the 1st in a series and by Chapter 6 I knew the whole book was going to ramble and be one pointless adventure after another that really didn’t help move the core storyline along. They could have if only they had been written better. I am sorry to say, but I have no desire at all to read anymore of this series, I usually don’t say that but this was just awful…the writing was crude and the sexuality became tedious and offense after a while. I applaud Lauren for following her dreams, but I’m sorry that this book was not a dream come true for me.

The second book in the series. I did not read the first book so I felt it took a while to engage with the characters. The story begins with Finn running away from his lover as something is taken control over him. His friends set out to find him and bring him back and have numerous adventures along the way.
I liked this book. It took a little tie to get into it and I felt the characters lacked depth. But it is a good read if you are looking for light entertainment.

This is the second book in the Lineage of Tellus series. I read and enjoyed the first so was looking forward to the second. Ashei Greyhawke has begun to settle into her new role as the ruler of Fleurdan. Her best friends, Tristan and Marianne, are involved in new relationships. Ashei receives word that Tristan’s lover, and her brother, Finn, is suffering from some strange illness. He runs away and Ashei and her friends embark on a quest to save him, or, if he has been taken over by his evil father, to kill him.

As in the first book in the series the characters are interesting and fully described. The novel takes as much time exploring the relationships between the characters as it does on the quest to save Finn. The dialogue is humorous and refreshingly modern sounding. As in the first book, I felt the characters rushed off on their quest with no real plan. It would be good to see the characters, especially Ashei since she is supposed to be ruling a country, mature and grow a bit more. Also, as in the first book, this novel is full of sexual innuendos and discussions of sexuality, including homosexuality. There is not, however, any explicit sexual content.

I recieved this book from www.librarything.com to review.

This is the second book in the series - I did read the first as wanted to get a feel for this author.
I sat in the garden over the weekend and was transported by this truly great fantasy novel.

The characters were real and the book had some parts of a sexual nature. There was even some dry humour in there too.

Reading the description sounds a bit weird, but i urge reraders to pick this up and read this.

Well written and if you are into fantasy - a good read.… (mehr)
