Very entertaining. It's a bit tedious in the middle, but the last third of the book is excellent.
This book - the whole trilogy -, was a hugely pleasant surprise. One of those rare cases, where sequels are even better than the first book. The biggest flaws for me were actually things that could have been edited out easily - too many repetitions and in some places, the pace of the story was just dragging on, too much explaining and overexplaining things which were already implied and made clear before.
Somewhere in the middle and a bit farther I was sure that yes, the book is pretty good, but the sequels are not for me. Until ... Yeah. The ending made it all worthwhile and I gobbled up both "Executed" and "Extinct" as fast as I could. And they were so much better!… (mehr)

I almost gave up on this book, so glad I kept reading. From not liking the first chapters at all to I couldn't put it down. I have read over 700 books and cannot ever remember having such an abrupt / sudden change. I am looking forward to checking out other books from this author.
I would not call this sci-fi. This book is mostly some actions in belly of a ship and the plot so far has nothing to do with science fiction. If you are looking for Peter F. Hamilton, Asimov, Alastair Reynolds and the like this book wont be much interesting to read. I will try the second book to see if there is anything that I have missed and this would turn into a larger sci-fi plot.
