Being a narrative of the season in which the St. Louis Browns won their only pennant. This is a straightforward narrative which tries fairly successfully to avoid the usual pitfall of 'season' books, that of getting bogged down in descriptions of individual games, by interjecting short biographies, personality sketches, and anecdotes about individual players who starred in the games, sometimes even from the opposing team. The book is nicely illustrated, albeit with very few crowd or action shots, which would have added spice. It's probably of limited interest to others, but the book is a must for the many Browns fans on your gift list.… (mehr)
