A very surprising story. At first, I was trying to figure out why the discrepancies of less than five dollars were getting such scrutiny. It seemed outlandish and quite ridiculous. However, as the very detailed story evolved, and all the pieces fit together, it really made sense.

Very detailed story, great characters, and steamy times made for a great story. At times the plausibly did get to be too much but not enough to stop me from enjoying this. I'll look for more in the future from this author.… (mehr)

This story was interesting and went in a different direction than I was expecting. The storyline while intriguing was at times a bit disjointed to me. There was a sense of disconnect for me between the actual story that was happening and the characters. I am not sure why that was considering I did enjoy Dawn and Leland.

The story was rich in detail and with the addition of steamy moments and interesting characters it was overall a good book. I am glad that I did go back and read the first book, The Money Man because it helped me understand some previous characters and their backstory. Technically, this could be standalone but I don't think that I would have enjoyed it as much. I'll look for more in the future from this author.… (mehr)

Good romantic story with a twist of suspense. I wish Leland had been given more of a voice. How does a desk jockey get as fit as he was if his workouts are limited to swimming. The steamy scenes were hot. I think if that sexual tension had been incorporated into the rest of the book, it would have made for a four star read.

I previously read Nancy Herkness's Take Me Home (A Whisper Horse Novel) and loved the characters of Claire and Tim. In this newest novel in the 'Whisper Horse' series we focus on Claire's oldest friend Paul Taggert.

Julia is a world renowned artist known for her equine paintings but has been reclusive for several years. Julia sets off for Sanctuary, West Virginia to meet with Claire in order to get her opinion on the newest series of paintings she has completed called "Night Mares." Paul meet cutes with Julia on the side of the road leading to Sanctuary and finds himself instantly drawn to the short fiery red-head.

I have to say from the beginning I was very intrigued with both Julia and Paul's stories in this novel. More often than that most romantic authors tend to focus primarily on the female in romance novels and I often find the male hero to be a bit of a cardboard cutout. With the novel shifting seamlessly back and forth between Julia and Paul and allowing the readers to see what was going on in both of their worlds simultaneously I really liked it a lot.

Also from the very beginning I felt the heat between Julia and Paul and loved reading their love scenes. I sometimes worry when a hero/heroine fall for each other a bit too easily but this was done very well and you could see why they were attracted to one another and they did not just fall into bed after knowing each other for 8 hours.

It was great to follow up with Claire and Tim again though we had some scenes with both of them I did feel as if they were too few. However, I understand that the focus was supposed to be on Julia and Paul for this novel.

I definitely recommend this novel and look forward to more novels in the 'Whisper Horse' series.

Please note I received this novel for free via the Amazon Vine Program.
