Sadly not much more than is in the movie, however it's still a nicely told tale even if there isn't any cat stevens

A totally absurd script, but wonderful views of a past San Francisco and Marin, attractive cast and Cyril Magnin as Pope Pius!

Like everyone else, I was quite disappointed by this book. The movie is very good, but this is essentially the script turned into prose, with no additional insight into the characters, and very little beyond minimal description.

A big letdown.

Three women accidentally attack their boss.

2/4 (Indifferent).

I don't get it. Is it a comedy with no jokes? Is it suspense that doesn't take itself seriously? And why doesn't the ending resolve anything?½

A morbid, rich teenager falls in love with a crazy old lady.

Re-watching it for the first time in several years, I started off annoyed at how self-absorbed Maude is (not annoyed that the character's written that way, mind you, but annoyed with Maude personally - the character's too entertaining to want her to be different). But as little hints of her life are dropped here and there, I came around to understanding her a little, and seeing the events of the film in a different perspective - as the conclusion to a long, tragic story.

Witty little book about how little age matters when the spirit is free.

Tarina on reilusti huumorilla höystetty jännitystarina kardinaalin salamurhan suunnittelusta. Elokuvan ehdottomiin huippukohtiin luuluu Dudley Mooren esittämän ”seksihullun kapellimestarin” iskuyritys Bee Gees –yhtyeen Staying alive –hitin tahtiin.

I laughed so hard throughout the movie that I was grateful for the book's existence so I could read what I missed - and the book is just as funny! Maude Chardin is one of the greatest characters ever invented - her take on life (and death) is a treasure to behold. Although the premise might put some potential readers off, don't let it! Absolutely one of my all-time "keeper" books (and, admittedly, DVDs)!

Wonderful novelization of a heart-touching, life-celebrating cult classic film that I watch over and over again--mostly when I'm depressed or when I'm losing faith in mankind.
