In the Acknowledgments, the author indicated he could write a novel as bad as some he had purchased at the airport. He failed. The book is much better than some of those books. While finishing it, I thought the "Kel and Levine" team would make the basis for an interesting series.
Good beginning novel written by someone who has "been there and done that".
A great mystery that holds one's interest throughout the story as it moves from a Vietnam MIA forensic investigation to a trio of present day murder investigations. One easily identifies with Del McKelvey, the protagonist, and becomes invested in the tale. The plot carries one along on a wave of suspense and then, "Oh, what an ending"!

It was good to read them together but I think that reading "K.I.A." so close to "Ghost Soldiers" took away from the seriousness of the subject. I won't forget the soldiers of the Philippines or their heroic rescue.
I happily found out that "K.I.A." is book two of a series, so I can look forward to reading more about those memorable characters.
