This is like an academic tome. There are 97 plates of 2093 butterflies with lots of support information.

As an amateur photographer of butterflies, I don't find this a great primary information source for identification. However, once you determine roughly what family your new butterfly belongs to, this book will help in identifying subtle variants in a family. As such it is great.
