In “Cuba: Anatomy of a Revolution,” the authors, Leo Huberman and Paul M. Sweezy, with incredible detail and objectivity, offer a penetrating, if outdated, analysis of the Cuban revolution. Despite the book’s small size (about 175 pages), the authors, who visited Cuba shortly after the revolution interviewing peasants, workers, businessmen, and revolutionary leaders such as Che Guevara, provide a detailed background on the history of Cuba and the socio-economic conditions that existed in pre-revolutionary Cuba, as well as the rise of the July 26th Movement and the Cuban civil war, and a Marxist analysis of the policies, in particular the agrarian reform law, and structure of the new revolutionary government.… (mehr)
