I wouldn't quite call this a thriller. The very beginning scene takes the thriller part out of the equation. But holy moly it's definitely a suspense book. Yikes.

From the very beginning, I was wondering 'what exactly is going to happen', 'when is it going to happen', etc. And when we first meet Erin and hear about her quest I literally said out loud, 'Oh Crap.' Heh.

Erin is staying at a Scottish Castle turned into a hotel (although reading it here over here in the US, the description sounded like it could be called an Inn over here). Abby is the Chef and they meet pretty early on in the story. And we also meet George, Abby's younger brother who seems like a sort of porter/waiter at the hotel. Both also live there and grew up there and so when Erin starts her quest, Abby volunteers to help grease the wheels with the local populace.

Erin pretty soon gets the info she needs and then the novel gets pretty hardcore. What will happen to Erin as she and her childhood past collide?

Oh, and to add to the super drama Abby's ex shows up at the hotel too, that threw a wrench into everything.

As I said, it was a super suspenseful book and a very fun read for sure.… (mehr)
