Absolutely Null and Utterly Void: The Papal Condemnation of the Anglican Orders 1896, by John Jay Hughes (26 Mar 1974) The examination and ultimate finding in 1896 that Anglican orders were not valid is the subject of this excellent work, by an author who was a convert from Anglicanism and became a Catholic priest, and he shows that probably the decision should have gone the other way. The question is complex and the book does not pretend to deal exhaustively with all its complexity.
