Wow, this is pretty well useless. It's possible that if you already knew how to make a beaded cap, you could extract the instructions from the muddled mess here...but I certainly can't. I've done one pattern of kumihimo, and I think I could use that knowledge to understand the braiding pattern - but if I didn't already know how kumihimo worked, this certainly wouldn't explain to me. Definitely not the basics. And despite doing quite a bit of kumihimo, other braiding, and weaving, I have no clue what the book is trying to say about warping - why do you tie a bobbin on with an extra string? At what point does the string get wrapped around the bobbin? And how do you make a 12-strand braid using "The warps ...should be 30cm in length, and each should contain at least 15 threads per warp"? Is it saying to use something like sewing thread and make 15 threads per braiding strand? Why? Ghahh. Oh yes, and quite a few pages are taken up by explaining what "scissors" and "thread" and "cardboard" are... The formatting problems don't help - the words are on one page, the picture they're describing are on the next - followed on the same page by the next set of words. And each section of the TOC is a separate page. I could manage that, though, if the information was actually useful. I do intend to try the patterns the author gives - all two of them - because I'm testing out different kumihimo patterns so that I'll understand them. But I'm very glad I got this book for free, because if I'd paid for it I'd be deeply unhappy.… (mehr)
