One of the concrete topics that Ibn Arabi wants to explain in his Futahat-al-Makkiyah is this: "If a Gnostic (arif) is really, he can not remain tied to any form of belief." This means that if someone who has acquired knowledge comes to know the Being that is in his own person with all its meanings, he will not remain trapped in a belief. It will not reduce your circle of knowledge. It is like a raw material (hayala) and it will accept whatever form it is given.
