NCLA Review - I must admit that I am a sucker for books such as this. I appreciate it when deep subjects are presented in a light-hearted manner and in an easy to understand style—even for the clueless layperson. "This little book introduces the reader to the places, books, and most importantly the people of the Bible. The entries are intentionally short. That is on purpose. They don't contain everything that the Bible has to say—just a taste." Presented in alphabetical order starting with Aaron, the authors provide information including his status, vocation, family, interests, guilty pleasure and even his favorite song, "He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother". The last entry is Zion, a mountain that the authors present as little more than a molehill. You get the idea. This is a great introduction to the Bible for all denominations and ages from teen to adult. It may seem a bit irreverent to some, but humor is part of the Bible. The authors are professors of Old Testament or religion. All three contributed to Crazy Talk: a-not-so-stuffy Dictionary of Theological Terms (Augsburg, 2008). Rating: 4 —BS… (mehr)
