Summary:

This is a story that helps children understand death. A little boy named Josh has learned his friend Max died. Max was always in the yard playing and each time Josh begins to notice he is no longer there it becomes more real. Max also helped Josh decorate his room so whenever he sees the wallpaper Max picked out he gets upset. One day he is so angry that Max is no longer with us he decides to tear the wall paper off. His mother then explains where we go when we die. Josh is finally okay because he realizes he will see Max again.

My Personal Response:
I really liked the way the book explained how he felt each time he didn't get to see Max where he normally would. I also liked that the Mother took the time to explain what happens after death and helped her son work through his feelings.

Classroom extensions:
I am not sure this could be read in a normal classroom, maybe at a Christian school.
1. This would be a great book to read if someone in the class or school dies.
2. This would be a good book to read during a feelings unit.
