Stage Fright von Alfred Hitchcock
2024 movie #33. 1950. Young actress helps her friend who's accused of murdering his lover's husband. But then she falls for the detective working the case. Kind of a rom-com mystery. I actually easily spotted the Hitchcock cameo in this one.
My copy is actually from BN as a nookbook.

It's a good read, but appalling in places - some of the attitudes toward race and so on are very much of their time, but the author manages to get at least a somewhat more nuanced view at the end.
Not to mention issues of class and some very peculiar things going on about the role of villains. Heroine has some kick butt moments that are surprising for the era,
And a body count that is not to be believed.
- Jepson wrote one of my all time favorite books, The Angry Millionaire sometime in the late 60s. I was looking to see if there were any electronic versions and this is all there was.
An interesting artifact.
