Randall Tarpey-Schwed synopsis: A story in coloring-book form, A Beach Party with Alexis tells the story of the day spent on Alameda Beach by an African American girl named Alexis. Alexis' mother Sarita, and Sarita's "lover" Liebe are at the beach, as are a number of other children and their parents. It's not clear if Liebe co-parents Alexis or if she is just Sarita's girlfriend. This is only the second coloring-book style children's picture book to portray a gay parent (after Michael Willhoitte's Families, A Coloring Book, also published by Alyson Wonderland). Since coloring books are typically used up and thrown out, they are ephemeral, but this title is incredibly scarce.… (mehr)
