A coming of age tale about 17 year old Daisy Bowen Jones and her family after the diagnosis of her father with a genetic degenerative disease. She is in a bit of a dilemma - should she have the test to establish whether or not she has this particular gene? Would you? It makes you think.

This is a sad story about family dynamics in an awful situation. I liked Daisy, I thought she was depicted well as the normal awkward and difficult teenager trying to make sense of life. I also thought Uncle Ben was a great character, he spoke the most sense in my opinion. The subject matter was dealt with quite sympathetically and brings it home just how devastating such a disease can be. The story itself I wasn’t so keen on. It was a little implausible in places and the blackmail thread running through it could have been omitted from my perspective. A thought provoking read nevertheless.… (mehr)
