Peter Kalmus is an atmospheric scientist at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory with a Ph.D. in physics from Columbia University. He lives in suburban Altadena, California with his wife and two children on 1/10th the fossil fuels of the average American.

I have read more than one book about how to respond to climate change. Peter Kalmus's Being The Change has some truly excellent portions but I would not rate it as one of the best. He included some very good material and I enjoyed reading about the ways he adapted to a very low carbon lifestyle. However he veered off course I thought with his promotion of meditation and other practices. Not that I am against meditation but that is not what I was looking for in a climate book. Still I have to say that I hope more people will read his book. If one is only going to read one book on climate change this might not be the one.… (mehr)
By far the most inspirational book on walking the walk of low-carbon living. Biking to work, growing a lot of food at home, picking up grocery store discards, going beyond composting to "humanure" -- what's not to like? And he made a no-fly pledge before COVID. There's even a short documentary video out there about the author. Plus he volunteers with the CItizens Climate Lobby to push for carbon pricing.
